PRESENTATION OF THE MACEDONIA'S TOURISM POTENTIAL TO THE NORWEGIAN TOURIST INDUSTRY

The representative of the international office of the Invest in Macedonia in Norway took part in the event of the Norway Network Forum in Tourism, hosted by ANTOR Norway - the biggest National association of the tourist offices, on 22nd October, enabling to the participants good networking and promotion of the tourism potentials. The forum was attended by representatives from various branches in the Norwegian local tourism industries and international offices from different countries

Within the framework of the event, the economic promoter, Marija Gjosheva-Kovachevikj by direct meetings with businesses and media from tourism sector, used the opportunity to represent Macedonia as a very prosperity tourist destination for the Norwegian marketplace, highlightingthe potentialsin the development of various tourisms such as: lake, cultural, rural, and wine tourism, Macedonian cuisine as well the adventure tourism and others. In addition, information related to government incentives for attraction of tourists and attractive conditionsfor foreign investments in tourism development zones in the Republic of Macedonia were promoted.

Norwegian tourism industry were particularly interested in Macedonia, currently not represented in the tourist offers, at the same time welcoming the recently opened direct WIZZAIR fly between Skopje and Oslo, and consider the need to further strengthen tourism cooperation between the two countries.

Macedonian delegation of 8 companies led by Invest Macedonia  accompanied by Masit, on October 21 in Gothenburg, Sweden had the opportunity to hold business meetings with Swedish companies as well as companies from Serbia and Bulgaria.

These meetings are organized by Invest Macedonia by its promoter in Sweden, Mirjana Naumoska in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Stockholm, Sweden-Serbian Business Association and Business Region Gothenburg the second time organize a joint event where Macedonia and other countries in the case of Bulgaria, Serbia and Sweden jointly perform for increased business cooperation between states.

Macedonian IT companies had the opportunity to participated a conference of IT Lindholmen Software Development Day in Gothenburg where they met with 600 different companies from the IT industry.

In addition to Swedish companies, meetings were held with 3 different IT Clusters and Associations to discuss possibilities for future cooperation and deepen existing between these countries said CAD.

“Macedonian companies had the opportunity to meet with three other IT clusters and associations to discuss possibilities for future cooperation and deepen existing between these countries”, said Naumoska.

During this event Naumoska presented the Agency for Foreign Investments and Export Promotion as a partner to all companies that are interested for investing in the IT industry and all companies that are interested in outsourcing their activities in the country.

The German company "Marquardt" officially opened its factory today in in the industrial zone Karaslari in Veles. In the plant, which has an area of 15,000 square meters, already has 170 of the planned 600 employees. The current investment is EUR 25 million and is planned to reach over EUR 35 million. The factory will produce high-tech parts for the German automotive industry, for Merzedes, Audi and BMW.

The new factory was opened by the Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski, the owner of "Marquardt Group" Harald Marquardt, the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Vladimir Pesevski, the  Minister for Foreign Investments Vele Samak and the Mayor Slavcho Chadiev .

- This is the first major foreign investment in Veles and in general the first major factory in 20 years thet opens in this city, said the Prime Minister Gruevski.

Marquardt Group is a family enterprise headquartered in Germany. It is a manufacturer in the field of electro-mechanical and electronic switches and switching systems. Its systems are found in household appliances and other industrial applications. The company has over 6,500 employees worldwide at 12 locations in nine countries on four continents. The annual turnover is more than EUR 680m. 

The Danish and Macedonian governments recently committed to encouraging trade between the two countries in the form of a bilateral investment treaty, which was signed in May and is expected to be ratified in the coming weeks.

Mirjana Naumoska, the head of Invest Macedonia’s office for Denmark and Sweden, considers co-operation between the countries to be a win-win situation.
“There are many areas where Danish and Macedonian companies can find a mutual interest,” she said.

“In production and trade we already co-operate in the textile industry, ICT and agribusiness – particularly food and beverages and the wine industry. Other potential areas are automotive, real estate, machinery, pharmaceuticals, medicine, and even the film industry. Furthermore there are Danish companies already present on the Macedonian market like COWI, Novo Nordisk, Jysk, Vedel IT and others.”
